Giving booster vaccines can increase the body's resistance against the corona virus, including from new variants such as Omicron. The government started the Covid-19 booster vaccination program on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. For the first stage, the government determined that the booster was carried out heterologously, which means the type of booster is different from the primary vaccine. Citing the Ministry of Health, Sinovac vaccine recipients will be given half a dose of the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine. Meanwhile, AstraZeneca vaccine recipients will be given half a dose of Moderna vaccine.

Giving Sinovac as a booster increased the effectiveness against Covid-19 virus infection to 70.89% from the initial 50.18%. Then, giving AstraZeneca increased the effectiveness to 90.53% and Pfizer to 93.18%. The results showed that giving AstraZeneca booster to AstraZeneca primary vaccine recipients increased antibodies 3 times. The antibody increase was found to be higher when the boosters given were Pfizer (25x) and Moderna (32x). Meanwhile, giving AstraZeneca booster to Pfizer primary vaccine recipients increased antibodies by 5 times. Then, administering the Pfizer vaccine increased antibodies 8-fold and Moderna 11-fold.

It should be noted that the antibody obtained after two doses of Pfizer was higher than that of two doses of AstraZeneca. This is also what makes the antibody increase seen higher in AstraZeneca primary vaccine recipients. For the Moderna booster vaccine, antibodies were found to increase 8-fold. The increase in antibodies was even higher if the Pfizer vaccine was given, which was 10 times. For the record, these three studies were conducted with different methods, samples, and times. This also makes the results of these three studies cannot be directly compared. The presentation of this data is provided as a reference only.
