The need for data centers is not only a requirement for companies but also a crucial necessity in facilitating government bureaucracy.
Furthermore, Luhut also emphasizes the importance of data centers for the government in supporting various critical systems, such as e-catalog systems and electronic payment transactions. This includes the increasingly digital disbursement of village funds. With robust data center infrastructure, the government can enhance efficiency in managing various financial and administrative aspects while improving transparency and accountability in public fund management.
Moreover, Luhut highlights the importance of building a robust digitalization ecosystem to reduce corruption cases. He believes that with a strong digitalization ecosystem, the occurrence of corruption can be minimized. Additionally, he also points out Indonesia's potential for digital economic growth, which recorded the highest value in Southeast Asia in 2022, amounting to $77 billion USD, and is projected to continue growing to $130 billion USD by 2025, based on studies by Google, Temasek, Bain & Company. Indonesia also holds 40 percent of the digital economy market share in Southeast Asia.
Luhut promises that the government will facilitate investors interested in investing in the digital sector in Indonesia. The government will continue to support efforts to accelerate digital transformation to achieve economic growth targets and develop a strong digital ecosystem.
