Perkembangan Panel Surya di Indonesia pada 2024 image

In 2024, the development of solar panels in Indonesia has seen significant progress, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). The government, through the Ministry of ESDM, is focusing on developing an integrated solar panel industry with the goal of making Indonesia one of the largest solar energy producers in Southeast Asia. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to achieving the target of 23% renewable energy (EBT) and reaching net zero emissions. Indonesia has a vast solar energy potential, estimated at over 3,200 gigawatts (GW), although current utilization is only around 200 megawatts. With its tropical climate and abundant land availability, Indonesia has a promising outlook for harnessing solar energy as a primary energy source.

According to data from the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of ESDM, as of January 2024, the utilization of rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS) has reached 149.2 megawatt-peak (MWp). The industrial sector leads with 82.72 MWp, followed by the business sector at 21.78 MWp, and households at 20.81 MWp. Although households account for a smaller share of capacity, they have the highest number of users, with 5,805 customers, followed by businesses with 1,756 customers, and the industrial sector with 190 customers.

To boost local production, the Ministry of Industry is also actively targeting an increase in the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) for solar panels to 90% by 2025. Currently, the TKDN for the solar panel industry ranges between 40-47%. With Indonesia's abundant solar energy potential, estimated at over 3,200 gigawatts, and favorable climate conditions, the country has a great opportunity to maximize solar energy as a primary energy source.
