Based on the data from the Ministry of Industry, the food and beverage industry contributed to the GDP of the non-oil and gas industry about 34.95 percent in the third quarter of 2017. This figure made the food and beverage industry the largest industry that contributes GDP compared to other subsectors.
Those achievements have increased by four percent compared to the previous period in 2016. For contributions to the national GDP at 6.21 percent in the third quarter of 2017 or an increase of 3.85 percent compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, because the food and beverage industry has a large impact on Indonesia's GDP, the government recommends the food industry to innovate and improve its technology.

The government continues to support innovation for food manufacturing. The Minister of Industry said that the national food and beverage industry needs to innovate in order to be able to compete with a global market.
