Jakarta – The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Karawang is in a strategic collaboration with a global company, Karawang New Industry City (KNIC) to accelerate the development in its region. This strategic partnership includes infrastructure development, integrated industrial city planning, and integration of industrial areas.

 

Karawang indeed has become a region that attracts a lot of stakeholders due to the high intensity of national scale development currently taking place in the region. Six national strategic infrastructure projects will be developed in or in the vicinity of the Karawang region, namely Elevated Toll Cikampek, LRT, Patimban Port, Kertajati International Airport, Trans Java Toll development, and high-speed railway development.

 

In addition to infrastructure, Karawang is considered as one of the most developed industrial areas in Indonesia with high potential future growth. There are at least six global automotive company giants, and eight electronics company giants are based in Karawang. Moreover, a highly productive workforce also supports Karawang's future growth potentials.

 

One of the global investors who are interested in developing Karawang as a center of economic growth as visioned by the Government of Indonesia is KNIC. Karawang’s Head Regent, Cellica Nurrachadiana, hopes that this strategic collaboration will help accelerate the growth of Karawang region and its socio-economic progress.

 

"This strategic partnership will open new employment opportunities in Karawang, will accelerate the development of world-class infrastructure, and will ensure Karawang future growth to become one of the centers of new economic growth in Indonesia as visioned by the Government of Indonesia,” said Cellica, in a event themed "Karawang New Industry City: A Milestone Towards World-Class Integrated Industry Parks at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

 

Furthermore, Cellica added that the collaboration with a global investor, such as KNIC, is expected to unlock Karawang potentials in the global industry network. Additionally, she also hoped that this collaborative initiative might inspire other regions to explore similar cooperation in their respective regions.

 

"This is a great opportunity for Karawang as we can work together with a global company that will propel Karawang to be a global player and set an example for other regions to explore collaboration opportunities both with national or international investors. We hope this collaboration can provide jobs opportunities, and better infrastructure so that our people can build a more prosperous and quality life,"  she further explained.
